The SmartSearch contains all the the standard filter conditions (see Search, sort and filter items). The additional feature is that the SmartSearch filters cannot only be configured individually like the standard filters, but also be accessed by all users. Furthermore, there are additional filter conditions for different types of contents.
This article covers how to configure the SmartSearch filters and how to apply the SmartSearch in combination with the standard filters and sorting functions.
The Smart Search is included in the following Web Apps:
- License
- Content
- Programmer
- Planner
- VOD
- Assets
- Sport
- Forecast
- Topics
- Teamer
ℹ️ Campaigns and Select do not include a SmartSearch.
1 How to configure the SmartSearch filters
The first step is create an individual SmartSearch filter configuration with the desired filter conditions or to edit an existing one.
For this purpose, The SmartSearch settings have to be accessed. This can be done two ways:
To enter the SmartSearch settings, the Smart Search tab (1), located in the stock. has to be entered first.
Then, the edit button (2) has to be clicked.

The app settings provide an alternative entry point for the filter configuration.
By clicking the user icon (1), a ribbon opens where app settings (2) can be accessed. This procedure applies to every tab.

Depending on the app, there may be various side tabs representing different content types to create the filters for.
New filter configurations can be created by clicking the New Smartsearch button (1), while existing filter configurations can be edited by clicking the edit button (2), with both buttons leading to the same dialog.

In this dialog, a name (1) and a description (2) can be added as basic information. The filter configuration can also be set as default by ticking the box (3), which means it will be preselected the next time when loading the SmartSearch (see chapter 2).
In the next step, filter conditions can be selected by clicking the plus icons (4). The conditions available will vary depending on the content type.
Once filter conditions are selected, they will appear under Selected conditions (5).
Some types of filter conditions, for example time ranges, have to be further specified. This can be done either during configuration or later when applying the filter. The difference is that parameters set during configuration are seen as permanent and thus will be preselected when applying the filter, in contrast to the ones entered afterwards.
Finally, the filter can be saved by clicking the Save button (6) or discarded by clicking the Cancel button (7).

As mentioned, a filter can be set as default by ticking the box in the configuration dialog. This can also be done in the overview by clicking the star icon (1).
2 How to specify the search results in combination with the standard filter functions
This chapter illustrates how the SmartSearch filter created in the previous chapter is applied and how the standard filter options can be used to further specify the search results generated by the SmartSearch.

Since the filter has been set as default, it will be applied when reentering the tab. The drop-down menu (1) allows to select other filters, with the applied filter displayed.
Now parameters that have not been defined yet can be specified (2). By clicking the Apply button (3), the search results are regenerated.

After applying the SmartSearch filter, a filter (1) regarding the type of the item is applied, as well.
By clicking the Show results button (2), the corresponding search results are displayed.
Now the start and end range (3) and the type of item (4) will be considered for generating the search results.
3 How to sort the search results
The search results can also be sorted using the standard sort functions (see Sorting items).
4 How to display items
The following article explains how to display items in a title and list view and how to select the number of items and the page: Display items.
