6.3.2 Tab Asset Position

An asset position describes the position of a certain content (program, series, trailer) on the asset with the help of time codes (TCIN, TCOUT). This corresponds to one individual entry of a MAZ card. The MAZ card is the table of content of the asset.

The asset positions are activated by assigning them to one or more channels. Soundtracks and inserts for managing layouts are administered via the asset positions.

Depending on the length of the asset you can create various asset positions for one asset.

To define a new asset position on the asset, please proceed as follows:

  1.  Select the button Create a new asset position .
    → A search dialog opens.
  2. Enter a title or the number of the content in the search field. Depending on the content type that is to be linked, it is necessary to activate one of the radio buttons before starting the search (Program version/Series/Trailer/Trailer version/Commercial).
  3. Click Start search to start the query. Please select the required entry in the search result window - Note to select the correct version type.
  4. Click Apply to transfer the selected line into the asset dialog.
→ A new line is inserted as new asset position in the upper window of the dialog Edit asset - displayed via the title, content type and number.
  5. Select the version type in the field Type and check the additional fields of this line. A message asks to transfer the title of the new content to the asset name. By confirming this message, the current asset name will be overwritten; if you click on No, the asset name remains the same.
  6. Please edit the TC In and TC Out fields as required.
  7. If required, select the audio system, the image format, the language etc.
  8. Click Apply to save the new asset position on the asset.

Notice:

Every object belongs to a mandate, but the object can include rights for other mandates (read and/or write). Depending on the authorization, the asset positions are displayed in different colors:

  • white: read and write
  • pink: read-only
  • no authorization: is not shown in the list

Activating an Asset Position

The activation of an asset position can either be done:

  • globally - for all channels of the client,
  • per channel (individual activation) or
  • for one or more client-specific channel groups (predefined in the CE parameters).

CreateCtrl can adjust in the system parameters, which of these option applies to your system.

Activating an asset position means assigning the linked content to a certain channel. On scheduling this content, e. g. the program version or trailer version in the Programmer or Planner, a material check/material adjustment can be carried out. Each asset position needs to be activated (via the Enabled field in the dialog Edit asset), otherwise, it cannot be used. A content can only be activated once. In order to activate an asset position, click on the Enabled field.

In the channel selection dialog above you may activate one or more channels for the asset position.

Notice:

Please note that you can only activate asset positions, which are longer than 000:00.

Activating the Channels of a Channel Group

In order to have the option of activating various channels simultaneously for a complete client specific user group, it is necessary to create this channel group in the parameters:

  1. Go to Admin > Edit parameter > Channel group.
  2. Create a new channel group via the button New  and choose a channel group name and abbreviation.
  3. In the Channel list window, add all required channels to the new channel group.
→ You may create various channel groups. One channel can be part of various channel groups.
  4. Close the parameters dialog.

In the dialog Channel selection, the newly created channel group is displayed and ready for selection:

On selecting a channel group, all assigned channels are selected automatically.

Click OK to finalize the activation of the asset position.

Editing Soundtracks

Depending on which material is available for broadcast, you may assign one or more soundtracks to the linked content. If the audio format allows for different audio systems and languages, the viewer of the programmer can switch between those languages and audio formats. The list fields of the soundtracks can be extended via the parameters (Admin > Edit parameter > Soundtrack content).

The arrow buttons allow for shifting a soundtrack entry up or down in priority. When creating an asset position, 0 to x soundtracks are created according to the customer specifications.

Inserts

Inserts are information texts or similar inserts; their position and duration can be defined via additional time codes on the asset. For example: Insert of a secondary event or trailer during the end credits of a film.

The time codes of the inserts are checked against potentially scheduled ad cuts. In case an insert lies to close to a scheduled ad cut or within the ad cut, a warning message will appear. Texts can be edited for each insert in the text fields (Text1 to Text4). These texts are taken over within the Planner to the linked default secondary events.

The number of insert types can be extended via the respective Insert type tab in the parameters (Admin > Edit parameter > Insert type).

Click the New insert button. Enter the insert type, label and time codes in the new line.
