6.5.2 General Information and Parameter Settings with Regard to Ingest Orders
An ingest order transfers information with regard to the asset and the material set to the MAM via web interface. Furthermore, the material has to be delivered to APS (to an APS server; some material that has been used before is also available on the PTS server). After the ingest of the material, the ContentExplorer data is matched.
After delivery of the material and creation of ingest orders, all contents, e.g. news, documentations, magazines, as well as promotional elements and commercials are recorded digitally in the system and are available at the broadcast station after a quality check. The broadcast stations have access to the digitized material saved by APS and can, for example, plan trailers, specify commercial breaks or edit whole programs for the Internet. Direct access to the MAM also enables broadcast stations to integrate programs into the scheme at short notice and make them available for playout.
For every client, APS compiles a list with all required parameter settings. These are created in the database and imported in the ContentExplorer for overwriting the default settings.
Tape ingest and server ingest carry different parameters:
- Tape: It is necessary to specify the name of the tape and the time codes for the content.
- File: Name, server and coding parameters are required.
In general, nearly all available drop-down options in the list (order_type, etc.) are managed via the database configuration.
The order type and the respective parameters depend on the type of the material set (flag Tapeless); for commercials, this is also the case for the keyword in the commercial version (COMMERCIAL or SPONSORING). For commercials that have been created via the import job, a set of parameters is specified in the database. The process is more complex for orders that have been generated via the ContentExplorer:
After selecting tape ingest or file ingest, standard values are transferred from the database. If a supplier has been specified, the default can be overwritten at the supplier via the CE parameters. These are the following parameters:
- INGEST_SOURCE (tape or server)
- INGEST_FORMAT_TEMPLATE (e.g. HR_IMX30_MXF)
- INGEST_QUALITY_CHECKLEVEL (mostly UNSPECIFIED), implemented as INGEST_TAPE_QUALITY_CHECKLEVEL and INGEST_SERVER_QUALI- TY_CHECK LEVEL
- INGEST_SOURCE_MATERIALHANDLING ( mostly DESTROY)
- INGEST_TAPE_SOURCE_MATERIALHANDLING
- INGEST_SERVER_SOURCE_MATERIALHANDLING
- INGEST_CARRIER_SUPPLIER (tape, optional)
- Additional parameters for ServerIngest:
- INGEST_SERVER_SERVERPROFILEID (AD_DELIVERY, N24_EXCHANGE)
- INGEST_SERVER_FILEFORMATPROFILEID (mostly HR_IMX30_MXF)
- INGEST_SERVERCONTENTFILENAME (STOCK AREA, TAPEREFNR, CONTENTREFNR)
If the VideoCodec and the IMPORT_KEY "APS_MAM" is set, the name is set as INGEST_FORMAT_TEMPLATE.
The N24 import is also created with suppliers, allowing for specific parameters. Parameters of suppliers can overwrite defaults.
If the ingest is COMPLETED, the asset and asset position are overwritten with the following values (all values can only be configured directly in the database):
- Material set type with the parameter attribute "APS-MAM_Def_Materialsatzart_Ingest" (also corresponds to transcode)
- Asset type with the parameter attribute "APS-MAM_Def_Assettyp_Ingest" (also corresponds to transcode)
- Material type with the parameter attribute "APS-MAM_Def_Materialart_Ingest" (also corresponds to transcode)
- Supplier with the parameter attribute"APS-MAM_Def_Supplier_Ingest" (also corresponds to transcode)
