2.4 Tab Tests

On activating the error buttons, all errors are displayed in the broadcast plan depending on the coloration in the options. You can display all or certain errors depending on the activation of the buttons.

Notice:

Define a red coloration for displaying the errors in the color options (Admin > Options > Color). After activating the error buttons these errors will then be displayed in red in the broadcast plan.

Notice:

The definition of rules in the ContentExplorer parameters is a precondition for checking license errors, parental rating errors etc. (e.g. FSK18: Free from 23.00 PM to 06.00 AM and activated for the respective channel).

Events in the broadcast schedule can be checked for the following errors:

Notice:

Planner message on saving the plan Do you want to save your changes?: This message appears whenever there are unsaved changes in the background of the broadcast plan. Here it makes sense to firstly call the function Track changes before saving the plan. This message can be activated/deactivated in the options of the Planner (Admin > Options > Broadcast date > Flag Apply modification log automatically).

Parental rating errors

It makes sense to activate this error-check only for channels that employ a parental rating. The rules for employing parental ratings need to be defined in the parameters of the ContentExplorer for each channel. A scheduled event receives the status Error (parental rating usage), if the event was rated with a grade and was not scheduled correctly regarding its rating. For example:

Trailer version with a parental rating of FSK 18 scheduled at 11.00 AM. Based on the FSK rules defined in the CE settings this event can be scheduled not earlier than 23.00 PM.

To resolve this error please reschedule this trailer version or change the FSK rating of the event, if possible.

Trailer usage errors

This error will also be indicated in the column Status of the Planner. Usually trailer versions are scheduled by drag and drop out of the tab Current in the data bar of the Planner. All trailers that are listed here have a valid period of usage for the current broadcast day. Thus, all trailers that are taken from this tab will not cause any usage error.

A trailer usage error is effected when:

  • the trailer has no period of usage at all.
  • the defined usage period does not include the current broadcast day or channel. It is possible to define the scheduling start, too, e. g. at 16.00 PM, so the detailed scheduling time in the plan is of importance, too.
  • there is a valid period of usage for the scheduled trailer yet it was scheduled twice. The minimum distance for scheduling one and the same trailer within one broadcast day is defined in the parameters of the ContentExplorer:

To resolve a trailer usage error please open the dialog Edit trailer version (right mouse click on Edit version). Here, check the usage period (time and channel) in the tab Periods of usage. If required, modify the data or replace the trailer by another. Adjacent it is necessary to reload the periods of usage (2.3 Tab Broadcast Schedule).

Ad usage errors

On an activated check all adsales (commercials) are shown as errors which have

  • a valid usage period, yet the element was scheduled twice: The minimum distance that has to be kept for scheduling one and the same ad twice or more within the same broadcast day is determined in the ContentExplorer parameters in the tab Channel.
  • no valid period of usage.
  • no usage period at all.

To resolve the error please open the dialog Edit commercial with a right-mouse click on the commercial. Check the period of usage an - if necessary - modify the data or replace the commercial by another. Adjacent it is necessary to reload the periods of usage (2.3 Tab Broadcast Schedule).

Design element usage errors

On an activated error check all design elements (signations, commercial separator, count-down boards, jingles) are displayed as errors in the column Status which have no valid period of usage or no usage period at all. To resolve the error please open the dialog Edit design element (right mouse-click on Edit program) and check the periods of usage in the respective tab regarding channel and time. If necessary, change the data or replace the design element by another. Adjacent it is necessary to reload the periods of usage (2.3 Tab Broadcast Schedule).

License errors

It makes sense to activate this error-check only for channels which license their programs i. e. that employ a license administration. In this case a license error is shown for a program or series version if either the scheduled version has no license at all or if the license time does not include the current channel and broadcast day.
You can verify this by opening the dialog Edit program. Open the license to the program by clicking on the button . Here open the tab Windows and check the window information.

Time errors

It is important to activate this error check in order to make overlaps directly visible within the broadcast schedule.
The scheduled event receives the error status Time, if it creates an overlap with the previous or successive event. The duration of the overlap will be shown in the column Status.
To resolve the error it may be necessary to remove some elements that are too long. Another option is to shorten variable elements via the right mouse context menu.

Length errors

It is important to activate this error check in order to make length errors directly visible in the broadcast schedule. You may resolve the error in the right-mouse menu (option Correct event length). This is possible in the following cases:

  • The length of a scheduled version has changed because the assigned material was activated for the version. The event gets a length error as the broadcast schedule still disposes of the old version length.
  • The length of a scheduled version without any material has changed because the program version was replaced by another (e. g. by another FSK version, cut version or title version).
  • A segmented event shows a length error after its material was activated.

Show all errors

This option activates all error checks.

Check ad breaks

On activating this check all booked ad sales are checked in their ad breaks of the current broadcast plan according to the following rules (these rules can be configured costumer-specifically!):

  • Check whether the 12-minute rule was observed: one hour may contain no more than 12 minutes of commercials
  • Check whether the 20%-rule was observed: at maximum 20% of one day‘s broadcasting time may contain commercials
  • Check whether the infomercial rule was observed for each day
  • Check for non-commercial events within the ad breaks (ad breaks may not contain non-commercial events)
  • Check for ad breaks with a double number (the coding has to be unique)
  • Check for ad breaks with a double number according to the GFK protocol (03.00 AM to 03.00 PM) - consistent coding
  • Check whether ad breaks without number are scheduled within the time period
  • Check whether the length of the ad break numbers is correct (8 digits)
  • Check for content and chronological order of the ad breaks
  • Check whether more than 2 ad breaks lie in one hour
  • Check whether the standard duration of the ad break is correct
  • Commercial events have to lie within ad breaks: They don‘t have to fill them completely, yet they may not „stick out“ of the ad break.
  • Check whether the ad breaks precisely succeed each other
  • Check whether the number and position of the ad sales from the ad sales system conform to the Schedule
  • Check for commercial relevant secondary events within the ad breaks
  • Further consistency checks: Jingles before and after commercials, ad breaks without commercial separators etc.
